NASA's Afterschool Universe Program
Students are introduced to Astronomy basics through project based learning activities. Participants learn cosmic size and scale, light and the electromagnetic spectrum, the use of telescopes and spectroscopes. The students are engaged in exciting hands-on exploration and investigations of stars, galaxies and black holes. Students learn how elements are made as well as the chemical composition of the Universe.
Students attend a field trip to NASA Goddard Space Flight Visitors Center where they work with NASA educators during a hands-on activity and guided tour of the facilities.
ASAP, Inc. works with school administrators and/or community based organization to implement the program in Elementary and Middle Schools.
